CGC Trading Cards Now Grading Pokémon Old Maid

CGC Trading Cards® is pleased to announce the expansion of its expert authentication, grading and encapsulation services to include Pokémon Old Maid playing cards!

In 2019, The Pokémon Company released a Pokémon-themed version of Old Maid, the classic children’s card game. It was available for purchase exclusively through the Pokémon Center in Japan for Ұ600 (about $4.50), while supplies lasted. Pokémon Old Maid challenges players to find pairs of cards and discard them together until a player wins by running out of cards, or loses by either being left without a match or drawing Gengar, the “Old Maid.”

Pokémon Old Maid features fun, loosely drawn Pokémon illustrations by Kouichi Ooyama, one of the original designers of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Fan-favorite Pokémon including Pikachu, Eevee, Mew and more appear as matchable characters. Other Pokémon, such as Ditto and Meowth, appear with special text instructing the player to take a certain action that usually changes the flow of play, throwing a special twist on the usual Old Maid formula. Additionally, each Old Maid deck comes with a Trainer card, a Pokéball card and a blank spare card.
