Posted on 13/10/2022
Sport: Baseball
Set: 2011 Topps Update
Card: #US47 Paul Goldschmidt
What makes it special? This is a popular rookie card for Paul Goldschmidt, showing him in his Arizona Diamondbacks uniform. Traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018, the first baseman is the favorite to win the 2022 National League MVP Award, which would be his first (he was runner-up for the award in both 2013 and 2015). Goldschmidt is a seven-time All star, a four-time Gold Glove winner and was NL home run and RBI leader in 2013. Goldschmidt set career batting records for on-base percentage, slugging percentage and walks with the Diamondbacks.
Did you know? On October 4, 2011, Goldschmidt became only the third rookie to hit a postseason Grand Slam (in an NL series the Diamondbacks lost to the Milwaukee Brewers). Coincidentally, the 2011 World Series was won by the St. Louis Cardinals, the most recent of their 11 titles (second only to the New York Yankees' 27).
