CGC Trading Cards Grading Star Wars Customizable Card Game
Posted on 03/05/2023
CGC Trading Cards® is excited to announce the expansion of its expert authentication, grading and encapsulation services to include the Star Wars Customizable Card Game. Produced by Decipher, Inc., this was the top-selling card game — second only to Magic: The Gathering — in its production period from December 1995 to November 2001.
The Star Wars Customizable Card Game consisted of one base set and over 20 expansions, with cards featuring characters, items and locations from the classic Star Wars trilogy of movies and The Phantom Menace. Some of the most popular cards in the set came from the Reflections II expansion, including Capital Support and the ever-elusive Emperor Palpatine foil variant.
Many cards in the Star Wars Customizable Card Game had two variants: the Light Side and the Dark Side. Gameplay requires each player to choose opposite sides and battle using their respective side’s cards. On each turn, one player would choose which characters, vehicles, starships and weapons to deploy, with the goal of controlling the most territory and depleting their opponent’s Force Points. Each player starts with 60 Force Points — 1 Force Point for each card in their 60-card deck — and wins the game when their opponent runs out of cards.
In addition to the base set and expansions, Decipher also released several smaller expansions, promotional cards and special purpose sets, such as the Jabba’s Palace Sealed Deck and the Enhanced Premier promotional expansion. CGC Trading Cards has already graded several cards from many of the expansions, including the Premier Limited edition and more.
Despite the Star Wars Customizable Card Game’s discontinuation in 2001, it still has a cult following and active player base online. Are you ready to submit your Star Wars cards to CGC Trading Cards? Learn how to submit by clicking here.
