Sport: Baseball
Set: 2017 Topps
Card: #287 Aaron Judge
What makes it special? This is a popular rookie card for Aaron Judge. The New York Yankees outfielder won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 2017, when he was also the AL home run leader. He has had another banner year in 2022: He is considered a front-runner for the AL MVP Award and, as of late August, he was on pace to break Roger Maris' AL record for home runs in a single season: 61.
Did you know? The Yankees have more World Series appearances (40) and World Series titles (27) than any other team. However, they've only been to the World Series twice in the past 20 years, losing to the Florida Marlins in 2003 and defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009. As of late August, the Yankees had a comfortable lead in the AL East and were well positioned for a first-round bye in the postseason.
Total graded by CSG: There are 224 examples of this card in the CSG Population Report, as of late August 2022. This includes 15 of a variation that shows him with his arms over a railing and 3 of the Rainbow Foil variation.
CSG median grade: CSG 9
CSG highest graded: There are 63 examples graded CSG Gem Mint 10, including 4 of the Arms Over Railing variation.
Sales highlights: An example graded CSG 9.5 sold in March 2022 for $29 through PWCC, while an example graded CSG 8.5 sold for $13 in August 2022 through PWCC.
CSG Registry: With 29 sets, Judge is among the top 20 for Baseball Player Sets in the CSG Registry. As of late August 2022, the leader among the Aaron Judge Player Sets was Pete Vamvakas' Judge Cards, which has a regular #287 card graded CSG Gem Mint 10 and an Arms Over Railing #287 graded CSG 8. This card is also part of the 2017 Topps Company Set, which has seven competitors. The second-place set, CollectibleSportStuff's 2017 TOPPS, has a #287 graded CSG 9.
